COMPOSITION
VGON syr:
Each 5 ml contains ondansetron hydrochloride IP 2 mg
VGON MD-tab:
Ondansetron ---- 4 mg
VGON inj:
Each 2 ml contains ondansetron hydrochloride IP 4 mg
CATEGORY---- anti emetic
INDICATIONS
VGON is indicated in1 Chemotherapy and radiotherapy induced emesis ,
2 Post operative nausea and vomitings ( prophylaxis )
DOSAGE
Oral dose of VGON in children -< 4 yr - 2 mg q 4 hr
4 - 11 yr - 4 mg q 4 hr
> 12 yr - 8 mg q 4 hr
IV dose for < 3 yrs old 0.15 - 0.45 mg /kg /dose
Adult dose
8 mg orally or slow iv q 4 hr
ADMINISTRATION
VGON can be taken with or without food.CONTRAINDICATIONS
Use with apomorphine (profound hypotension).SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
VGON may cause QT prolongation; caution when used in cardiac diseases,Severe hepatic impairment.
May mask progressive ileus and/or gastric distension.
ADVERSE DRUG REACTIONS
Headache, malaise/fatigue, constipation; drowsiness, fever, dizziness, anxiety, cold sensation; pruritus, rash; diarrhoea;
gynaecological disorder, urinary retention; elevated transaminase;
local inj site reaction (pain, redness, burning); paresthesia;
hypoxia. Rarely: Anaphylaxis, angina, bronchospasm, ECG changes,
extrapyramidal symptoms, grand mal seizure, hypokalaemia,
tachycardia, vascular occlusive events.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Rifampicin and other CYP3A4 inducers reduce levels/effects of VGON.Potentially Fatal: Concurrent use may increase the hypotensive effect of apomorphine; avoid concurrent use.
